Spiral Archive

Robbie was very excited about Saturday, he had looked forward to it all week, but if I'm honest I wasn't keen. We were going to the Spiral Archive, record shop which is also a bookshop. I love books and the idea of spending ages checking out all the books in this shop was very attractive. However the shop contained two of the things that I really don't like, music and coffee, so I was apprehensive. I am not good with the smell of coffee, I really can't cope with loud Robbie type music and I knew that Robbie would be in there for ages.

As it turned out I coped better with the smell of coffee and the music than I expected. I really enjoyed sorting through the books and I found a few treasures that I absolutely had to have. I have to admit to getting bored long before Robbie was ready to go, but that is not surprising because he was there for almost 3 hours!! I think he could have easily spent our whole annual budget, but in the end he came away with a bag full of treasures and a huge grin on his face. His purchases included Hatful of Hollow, Veruca Salt (7"), Altern 8 Activ-8 (7") and Altern 8 various remix's (12") as well as a couple of 1970s Hornby catalogues. It really was Robbie's idea of heaven, a shop that sells railway books as well as a huge selection of vinyl records.

Time Warp

This weekend has left me feeling as if I am living in a time warp. Yesterday Steve Davis knocked John Higgins out of the World Snooker Championships and Sam came home from from town proudly carrying two vinyl records! I blame Robbie for this sudden fascination with vinyl, several weeks ago he announced that he intended to review his seven inches, Sam found this hilariously funny and asked if he was boasting, but when he brought his usb turntable downstairs he was intrigued. He said that he had never seen an 'old fashioned cd player' before! Robbie played a few of his singles, then I was seized with the desire to revisit my music collection. It was so nice to remember those days but I have to admit that my teenage choice of music emptied the lounge! Anyway Sam has been bitten with the vinyl bug and yesterday he added two Queen singles to his collection.

Birthday Boy 16.03.07

Well it's time for another 'GUEST' appearance on my site, so here goes.....
As most of you know, its was my birthday and Chris kept telling me that she'll buy me something but nothing too ridiculous in terms of cost, size, etc.... so Thursday morning came and cards and a bottle of expensive aftershave went down VERY well. When I got back from London, it was a little bit different! We all went to Chrisitine's mum for some dinner which was lovely as always. I had some lovely presents including a brilliant book from the children and a 'man bag' DVD's and a railway book. Then Chris brought out a great big bag.....memories of Xmas morning all flood back.....lol.! Inside the green sack was my BIG present....a usb turntable that will (given time...) convert all my vinvyl to digital format! Chris never ceases to amaze me, which is why I am so lucky to have her as my wife....! Im a very lucky man....!
