Robbie had promised that this weekend would be special after the disaster of last weekend. It started OK but by Saturday afternoon Robbie had a huge man stress. When I went to pick Sam up I stopped to buy myself a newspaper, I hardly ever buy a newspaper and earlier that day Robbie had told me that if I wanted one that I would have to buy it myself. It didn't cross my mind that Robbie would want a paper, it was past 6pm so if he'd wanted one he would have got one by then. When I got home he was furious, he didn't seem to understand that I don't work by telepathy! He got into such a stress that he decided that he was going to walk to the supermarket to buy a paper. I offered him a lift but he refused and insisted on walking, he said he didn't want a meal cooking for him. So I got on with cooking and the rest of us ate without Robbie. When he returned with his precious Guardian he was even more impossible and it took him all night to get over his man stress.
His recovery didn't last long we had a disagreement about the Looe Valley line and who changes the points when the train changes direction. He even rang a colleague to prove that he was right - he wasn't! He didn't say much but his lip jutted out the way it always does when he is in a strop. He decided to go out on Sunday afternoon and evening, I wasn't impressed. So much for having his undivided attention all weekend!
There was one bit of comedy value, during the weekend, when he got all dressed up to go to the supermarket in the rain he looked very much like Kenny from South Park, it made me want to laugh, I managed to keep a straigh face, but that vision will stay with me for quite a while!

Wishig Stones
Wishing Stones Sunday 19th August 2007This morning I woke Robbie early to send him off to the shop for a newspaper, I was determined to avoid a repeat of yesterday when he had me driving miles in search of a Guardian. He got up reluctantly and after looking lovingly at his railway magazines he grudgingly agreed that he would walk to the shop for his newspaper. I reached for my computer and Robbie commented that I was so attached to my laptop that I would probably want to be buried with it. I reminded him that I wanted to be cremated and if he had me buried I would come back and haunt him. He said that he hoped I wouldn't have him burned and I replied that I certainly would as it was tidier. He retorted "over my dead body" to which I quite reasonably pointed out that of course it would be as I had no intention of having him burned alive!
The weather was a bit grim today, warm but wet. We went out to an antiques fair, it was fun looking but we didn't buy anything much. Later on we went for a walk and then after a very heavy shower we went walking on the beach looking for wishing stones. I love the beach whatever the weather and today provided a good opportunity to take photos because the light was good but there was no direct sunlight to complicate things. There were lots of wishing stones, these are pebbles with at least one hole going all the way through the stone, I am not sure what causes this beach to contain so many stones with holes worn through them, but ever since the children were tiny we have collected them. I cannot guarantee their ability to grant wishes, there have been times when I have wished with all my heart for things to be different to no avail, but I am still fascinated by the stones.
I don't want the holiday to end but I miss the girls and I want to be back in an environment where women are in the majority. The two men in my life have been causing me serious concern regarding the bathroom, one leaves the seat up while the other puts the lid down, either option can be catastrophic in the middle of the night when I am not fully awake. If they start those tricks at home, the girls will soon be on their case!
Paper Trail
Paper Trail Saturday 18th August 2007
We have been here for a week, in some ways it feels like five minutes and in other ways it feels like an age. I love it here and much as I miss the girls I am in no hurry to drag myself back to reality and the dreary routine of term time. I intend to savour every moment of our second weekhere and any thoughts of our ordinary routine at home can wait.
Today we went to Mundesley, there is a big sandy beach there and a very nice restaurant. We treated ourselves to lunch. It was really nice, but slightly marred by Robbie having a strop about his Guardian. On the way to Mundesley Robbie waited until we were driving past the shop at Walcott before asking to stop. I couldn't stop safely and I suggested that he could pick one up in Mundesley, but I knew we were in for trouble when I glanced across at him and saw his arms folded and lower lip jutting out like a sulky toddler. Mundesley is not a Guardian sort of place and his search proved futile, so after our time in Mundesley he had me driving all around Norfolk (well, to Stalham actually) in search of his paper.
