As I Was Going Up The Stair ..................

We were cuddled up in bed this morning when Robbie started talking about Alice. I was confused, who was Alice? Was it another one of his women, a friend of Brenda perhaps? No he doesn't have a harem (as far as I know) he wasn't even talking about Alice. Apparently he was talking about the name of a company that provides road transport for railway locomotives. It is so nice to know that I have his full attention!!

Last night I had to abandon Robbie in the lounge, I tried to wake him up but he was deeply unpleasant. Apparently he woke up a few hours later and he couldn't move because his back was so painful. Eventually he managed to fall from the chair to the floor and there he remained on his hands and knees for more than five minutes. Eventually he managed to crawl upstairs to the bathroom, unfortunately I chose that moment to wake up and walk along to the bathroom. We made each other jump and we both shouted out. It reminded me of that poem 'As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there'. Robbie was real enough, but he really made me jump. When I got back from the bathroom Robbie was already sound asleep in bed and he was doing Ivor the Engine impressions - I give up!

One of Those Days

After the drama and stresses of Sunday and Monday I really needed to be a nice ordinary day. I was so tired that I really couldn't deal with anything else, but Tuesday turned out to be 'one of those days'. I had spent the morning running around after people and I had just settled down in front of my computer when Laura phoned tho say that she was losing peripheral vision and she was scared -me too! Within an hour she could see almost nothing from one eye and the other eye was causing problems too. The GP advised her to go to casualty for tests, but she was really not well enough to do that and instead the GP examined her. He was concerned, but he thought it was probably a retinal migraine and we had to take her home and keep a close eye on her. By the evening there was some improvement but even this morning her vision is not back properly.

I was so scared, but by the evening I hoped that the worse was over - that was until Robbie got a splinter of glass in his foot. He hoped around yelping and he had me inspecting his foot for over half an hour searching for the elusive shard of glass. The search proved fruitless and it seems that it wasn't glass at all, most likely it was his own hard skin causing the problem. I hadn't done any work that day and at this rate I would be working until well past midnight, I felt like screaming, but Robbie's 'splinter that never was' dominated the evening.

Close Encounters of the Scary Kind 20.01.07

Robbie finally arrived home exhausted but triumphant at about 11.40pm. You may wonder what he found to be triumphant about after such a frustrating day - it was the outstanding performance of the Voyager toilets during the 12 hours it took to make the journey from Glasgow to Birmingham. I know we have to count our blessings, but that is just weird!

Our plans for the weekend have changed due to the problems caused by the gales yesterday, so Robbie will be out in the garden bright and early to make an attempt on his record. With a bit of luck (and careful supervision) he may even be able to get the fence to stay up for a whole week! Practice makes perfect, or so they say.

Robbie woke up late this morning feeling somewhat bleary eyed after his adventure yesterday. He made it to the bathroom without incident, but as he made a quick dash back to the bedroom wearing little more than a smile, he encountered a man on the landing. There was a scream of surprise followed by a string of expletives before he returned to the bedroom looking as if the devil was after him. The man in question was superman, life size and incredibly life like as he leaned against the door to the airing cupboard looking across at Sam's bedroom. Sam had decided to put him outside his bedroom, and of course being Sam there is always an interesting reason for his actions. He didn't like having the life sized cut-out in his bedroom because he didn't like to think he was being looked at while he was asleep. He had therefore decided to put him outside his room, to guard the door and deter unwelcome visitors. It certainly made an impression on Robbie! Sam has Asperger Syndrome and although it is incredibly difficult for him to cope with the ordinary matters of daily life, this was one of those occasions when the result of his behaviour was extremely funny.
