Saturday
Robbie was up showered and dressed before I could summon up the enthusiasm to open my eyes. He is not the quietest man who ever lived, so it was hard to avoid the necessity to wake up once he had started clattering around. An early breakfast was the order of the day, followed by a slightly too brisk walk into the city centre. The reason for Robbie's enthusiasm and my indifference was that he was heading to the station to play trains for the day while I was going shopping with Laura and Sam. I can't remember where Robbie went, but I know he bumped into Fudge at a bus stop in deepest Devon. It's a small world!
Back in Plymouth we had a successful and rather exhausting shopping trip. We had a hot chocolate at the Gorge (a favourite restaurant) and Sam enjoyed visiting his favourite comic book shop. When I finally dragged Sam away from the comic books, we went to the Barbican and bought our lunch at Cap'n Jaspers (an essential element of any trip to Plymouth). It was a beautiful day and for once the seagulls behaved like gentlemen as they waited for our scraps as we sat eating at the edge of the harbour.

In the afternoon ww went to visit family, we had a brilliant time. In true Burgess style Robbie managed to turn up in time to eat, despite being delayed on his railway ramblings. Not being a fast learner, his foot was soon firmly back in his mouth and he found himself on the receiving end of one or two of my most withering looks. The trouble is he thinks it is almost worth his while to get into trouble because he likes making up! He did score a few brownie points for not trailing after Fudge to sample the local brew, but after becoming inebriated on 'alcoholic onions' on Thursday, even Robbie had worked out that he was on thin ice!
Sunday
After breakfast we packed the car and headed home. It was an excellent journey, we hit our target time of 4 hours. I am so pleased to be back in my own bed, our new mattress is so comfortable, but Robbie seems more impressed by its non slip qualities.
