Dave the cat went back to see the vet today. He did extremely well, no swear words at all while he was there. He has to stay on the medication for another month, because one of his feet is still in a bad state, but the vet is pleased with his weight gain and general improvement. I asked if it would be possible to cover his bad foot, because it bleeds and it causes a lot of mess as well as being unpleasant for the cat. The vet suggested that I should buy some baby socks and tie them on with ribbon, so poor Dave is not exactly Puss in Boots, more like Cat in sock! To say that he is not amused does not even come close to expressing his feelings. He had a go at undoing the fastening with his teeth, but he is somewhat lacking in the tooth department so he didn't succeed - yet. He wasn't keen to pose for photos, but his sock looks so cute. When these photos were taken he was swearing so loud that he sounded like a whistling kettle - I dread to think what he was saying!
